Hosted by super model Alex Leigh, the fashion show saw the unveiling of Alex Gerrard’s first fashion line -- in association with the exciting high street brand, Forever Unique. The exclusive event brought out the paparazzi as it was attended by a whole host of celebrities including choreography and TV personality Jason Gardener, actresses Michelle Keegan, Sheree Murphy and Lucy Jo Hudson; and pop stars Liz McClarnon and Anthony Costa.
With all of the major newspapers titles and magazines eagerly anticipating the launch of Alex Gerrad’s range, the pressure was on to make this one of the best fashion shows Manchester had ever seen!
Warren Holmes, International Creative Director, Nicky Clarke said: “Having just come back from New York Fashion Week, it was great to try out some of my very latest conceptions at the Forever Unique fashion show in Manchester.
There were two different collections showing so I needed to mirror that with the hair and keep it in with the story.”
“The Alex Gerrard woman is a younger more daring woman; somebody who pays attention to shapes and detail but at the same time has fun.
‘Rock chic’ was the buzz word though I didn’t want it to be a stereotypical rock chic look. I wanted to add value to the woman and create a runway feel to the hair. I created a deconstructed oversized top-knot. It’s all about diffused texture and shape. Check out the movie below to see the styles on the catwalk!”
“I wanted to create a glamorous woman but with attention paid to a particular detail. I created a bouncy curl throughout and raked it through and pinned the back into two rolls to create the illusion that the hair was tucked into a coat. It will be a huge look for autumn winter 2010/11. It’s simple and easy to achieve and complements winter wear perfectly.”
