Warren’s Blog: Vogue Fashion Night Out
Vogue Fashion Night Out, where did you spend yours?
The idea of Vogue Fashion Night Out is not just an evening on the tiles and networking, it’s to get retailers selling and that it does! Bruton Street Mayfair, which is where I was, was a sea of fashion clad shoppers swarming the magnificent shops of Mayfair.
I left the Nicky Clarke salon situated on the corner of Mount St, Mayfair, after cutting Matthew Williamson’s hair and it was like being out on a Saturday night; there was a real buzz in the air and it reminded me this is what London’s all about. London has a great source of energy and by just walking around it inspires me to overwhelming levels. You see, everybody is here to make it; to be at the top of there game and this is what I love about London.
I was invited to the Matthew Williamson store event and after party – Matthew’s as ever was the party to be at. It’s so laid back and friendly and of course the clothes are amazing. He did it in connection with Momo’s so we had a Moroccan theme and I was joined there by Vogue Editor, Alexandra Shulman, and Twiggy amongst others. Bruton Street was buzzing and all the shops were full, so London was most definitely deemed a success.
Vogue Fashion Night Out is getting bigger and bigger and now features in 16 countries worldwide; three more locations than last year spreading as far afield as New Delhi and Sydney.
I was in New York on the Friday for New York Fashion Week, and attended Vogue Fashion Night Out at Marc Jacobs, Downtown Manhattan, which is my favourite place. Greenwich Village, West Village and Chelsea were also bouncing! New York may have pipped London for me and it seems it dragged all the faces out too.
Bergdorf, attended by Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie and Ralph Lauren attended by Anne Wintour and Halle Berry were the favourite’s of the evening. Fashion is a force where else would you be able to see so many faces on one night other than Oscars, and that at times it felt like.
There was also a huge male attendance which is surely a sign of the increasing presence of male grooming.
Next up is Vogue Fashion Night In – so I’m told from the guys at Conde Nast – for the online retailers so check that out in the fall.
