Warren’s Blog: Matthew, Sienna and Behind the Seams
I’ve just been signed to film a new TV Show called Behind the Seams. It’s the first of its kind in actually being able to get access to the top designers in the fashion industry. The series will be hosted by Daily Telegraph fashion editor Hilary Alexander.
My role as the resident Hair Stylist is to create a ‘Get the Look’ of an iconic Hair style the Designer in question has showed over the years that you the viewer can do at home quite simply; as well as styling the Hair for Hilary and whomever we may be shooting.
I’ve worked with a number of the designers over the years namely Chanel, Armani, Matthew Williamson and John Rocha so I’m really familiar with them. First up was my friend Matthew Williamson. I’ve wanted to re-style his hair for ages and finally we did it. It just so happened that it was on that day he was launching his new kaftan for Belvedere Vodka, where I was booked to do Sienna Miller’s hair – so after we finished filming at Matthew’s store in Mayfair, I went round with Matthew to do Sienna’s hair at the Connaught hotel and I literally had three minutes to do her hair! Matthew had a go too…..believe it or not he’s actually quite good!
Sienna has a really good sense of putting things together and knows what she wants. Her Matthew Williamson dress was quite a number for a Wednesday night so it was a case of keeping the hair cool and simple. I just put a fringe in and dressed it into a high loose ponytail that I then gripped in. Sienna pulled tendrils of hair out around her face! She is also good at doing her hair and then I sprayed Nicky Clarke Flexible Hold Hairspray on to give it as bit of firmness. It was cool and not too fussy but the press we got was great. It was up on Hello within minutes, made the New York Times the day after and the entire national press. So there you go, it only took me 3 minutes!
Next up I’m told its Valentino and Karl Lagerfeld.
