Hair Tips & Advice By Warren Holmes
Seven Days Seven Styles
Warren Holmes has recently featured in Hair Magazine with an 8 page spread: Seven Days -- Seven Styles.
“I wanted to show how transient hair can be by taking one woman and portraying her changing looks throughout the week – specifically during festive season -- and telling the story through her hair; a style for Monday, Tuesday, and so forth. It’s just one woman, one week and one hairdresser.
MONDAY
Bardot, hair down
- Leaving out the front section, backcomb all the hair and run the straighteners over the backcombed hair.
- Do this all over.
- With the texture of the hair now distressed, brush it out with a bristle brush.
- Take a section from the top and place a half cut doughnut at the crown, brush over and grip at the back of the style.
- Straighten the pieces of hair around the face and use Nicky Clarke Hold and Shine Ultimate Hairspray for definition and texture.
TUESDAY
Roped, Milkmaid Braid -- Leather jacket
- Take a deep side parting to the back of the opposite ear subdividing the hair in to two sections.
- Take each section and separate down middle, twist hair clockwise on both sections then overlap each other anti clockwise to create a ropebraid.
- Pull the hair over the head and grip in behind each ear.
WEDNESDAY
Hair with bow
- Create a pad with the hair, by taking a pony tail and backcombing.
- Brush all the hair backwards over the hair pad and secure on the opposite side into a pleat.
- Use a ribbon and pull around the hair pad tightly creating a dip in the shape.
- Tie into a bow.
- Finish with Nicky Clarke Hold and Shine Ultimate Hairspray.
THURSDAY
Ponytail
- Create a middle parting and height at the crown by adding Nicky Clarke Tease Me.
- Pull the hair into a low ponytail adding a feather in the middle.
- Use a bunjee cord all over to secure ponytail with the feather included.
- Use a piece from the ponytail to wrap around bunjee cord and create a more decadent feel.
- Crimp the ponytail and brush it out.
- Pull tendrils around the face and wrap a loose chain style necklace around the pony tail for added effect.
FRIDAY
Chanel big dark hair
- Pull ponytail through a doughnut just below the crown and secure with a hair grip.
- Place a hair net filled with fake hair over the top and secure to the doughnut, this is your hairpiece.
- Use Nicky Clarke Tease Me and gently backcomb each section of hair around the hair.
- The hair will now be full of volume.
- Split into two sections and brush backwards, secure the ends.
- Pull tendrils out around the face for softness.
SATURDAY
Lanvin oversized knot -- stripy dress
- Pull the hair into a tight ponytail on top of head.
- Place a large doughnut at the top of the head and pull through the ponytail then grip to secure.
- Sprinkle ‘Nicky Clarke Tease Me‘ on to small sections for a backcombed effect.
- Wrap the hair around your thumb and pull around doughnut with your hand, secure the edges with pins.
- Secure with copious amounts of Nicky Clarke Hold and Shine Ultimate Hairspray!
SUNDAY
Fishtail Plait Top knot
- Style in to a high ponytail using a bunjee cord.
- Split the hair down the middle and create a fishtail plait by taking little pieces of hair from the edge. e.g. taking the left side and pulling it over to meet the opposite side where it will be placed under. Do the same on the opposite side until reaching the ends.
- Secure with a small elastic band.
- Wrap the fishtail plait around itself pulling at the edges to create width.
- Secure to the head with grips to hide the elastic band.
