Hair, Hair Tips & Advice By Warren Holmes
How to refresh your hair after the winter
I often find that from speaking with clients in January/February they openly admit their hair has taken a pounding with all the heat styling, products, brushing etc over Christmas. I suggest the following 5 things:
Treatment – Hair needs to be fed protein and goodness to feel and look healthy and shiny. An Intensive Treatment Mask high in moisture will repair hair and products containing Avocado and Coconut oils are really good for adding moisture back into hair. After shampooing rinse hair, squeeze excess water from the hair and evenly comb the Treatment through the lengths and ends. Clip up and leave on all night, put on a shower cap so as not to ruin your pillow, rinse out the following morning. Do this 3 times a week. The results are remarkable, but make sure you’re using the correct product.
Cut – Remove all those damaged ends by getting them cut. Start afresh; you are better off removing the split ends and then start repairing your hair. Work it into a re-style, go for something different, a New Year a new look. Daily Routine – Allow yourself and your hair to get into a frequent pattern. Frequent shampooing is fine as long as you use the correct product and shampoo gently i.e. using the pads of your fingers. Rinse thoroughly, condition and treatment and get into a routine with your diet too, this is vital to healthy hair.
Colour- It can really energise dull hair. A couple of highlights in the fringe show movement or even a rich dark colour. It’s not so much brightening the colour up, you can refresh your look by just doing something different. Whether it be a colour change or even a fringe, change is good and changes perceptions of your hair.
Nutrition – Your hair is made up of mostly proteins so up your intake of lean meats and fish and good fats (avoid saturated fats). Look out for food containing Vitamins A, B, D and E.
