Here’s our pick of the best from the event.

Signature Hair Stylist, Warren Holmes, picks his Two Key Trends from the Met Ball 2010

  • Maggie Gyllenhaal
  • Jessica Szohr
  • Gwen Stefani
  • Jennifer Lopez
  • Jessica Biel

1. Backcombed Bardot

A contemporary twist on the classic Bardot.

Volume at the crown is the key element running through all these looks but each look has its own stamp of my favourite feature: ‘Individuality’.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gossip Girls Jessica Szohr and Gwen Stefani all went for some added height to the front of there hair to elongate their face-shape. Jenniffer Lopez on the other hand – whom in my opinion has never looked sexier – and Jessica Biel dropped a more disheveled look by pulling pieces out around the face. By splitting hair down the middle and wearing it flatter at the front hairline it gave the look a more youthful feel.

2. 1920’s – 1940’s Set Waves

  • Marion Cotillard
  • Jessica Alba
  • Kate Bosworth

A hard technique to master, yet when nailed it can be so effective.

Marion Cottilard, a hair inspiration to many in the business, lead the way with her different set look, pulling one side behind the ear. For me Jessica Alba has looked better but the set pin curls were executed well. For perfect girly sexy set waves look no further than Kate Bosworth. I did her hair a couple of years back and she knows what she likes; she is ultra professional, has all the references and is in complete control of her look which makes this even more special as the actress herself has had a hand in it.

  • Sarah Jessica-Parker

SJP- Marcel Waves

I can’t go without paying homage to SJP; she always looks great and yet again stole the show in my opinion. Her Marcel wave perfectly complemented her Halston Heritage dress. I’m looking forward to the Sex and the City invasion on London when they rock up for the movie premiere.
