Meningitis Trust

Nicky Clarke is partnering with the Meningitis Trust, a national charity which supports thousands of people affected by meningitis across the UK; helping them cope with a life that will never be the same again.

The Trust provides lifelong support for thousands of people every year but there are many more people who still need its help – people whose lives have been devastated by the disease.

Every year there are 3,000 new cases of bacterial meningitis and double that of viral meningitis. 1 in 10 people will die and 1 in 4 will be left with long term after effects including deafness, loss of sight and speech, limb loss (where septicaemia is involved), brain damage, memory loss and learning difficulties.

The Meningitis Trust’s tailored expert support helps those directly affected and their families. Its professional services are free and include:

• 24 hour Freephone confidential helpline staffed by nurses (0800 028 18 28)
• Counselling
• Financial support grants
• Family days
• Art therapy
• Home visits
• One-to-one contact
• Community support

It also raises awareness of the symptoms of the disease; helping people understand that fast action can save lives and reduce the impact of the disease.

For the Trust to continue to reach out and help people it needs to raise
£3 million per year. With no Government funding, that money comes from the generosity of individuals, communities and organisations. 

By working in partnership with the Meningitis Trust Nicky Clarke is helping to reach more people and stop them suffering in silence. Meningitis will never go away and by working together we can make a difference.
