How you wear your hair on your wedding day makes a big difference in completing your perfect day.
When choosing your hairstyle for the big day there are lots of factors that you should consider such as the neckline and shape of your dress, the formality of the event and most importantly what looks good on you!
Inspiration – Images on the web and magazines are good for inspiration but don’t just look at hair/bridal magazines, stock up on Vogue, Harpers and Elle. I get a lot of my inspiration from red carpet events from across the globe. The Oscars and the Grammys this year were definitely top of my list with stars such as J Lo opting for a sleek back high top knot and Emma Stone choosing a low side sophisticated textured bun with a side parting and glossy sweeping fringe. Both looks were elegant and soft and perfectly styled for the dresses they wore to the Oscars.
For those brides who just cant decide on up or down, to the side or central why not try the half up half down. There are endless options; loose tousled waves, curls, twists, plaits or just keep it simple with a little height on the crown and softly pinned off the face to create a sophisticated natural look for your big day.
Trial – Most brides opt for one or several hair trials with a stylist before their big day. Don’t be afraid to take pictures and mood boards with you to your hair trial. Being hairdressers we can see things differently to others remember but its YOUR hair trial, your perfect hair takes planning so it can be trial and error. I always do a variety of hair styles for the bride and take pictures for them to look at – friends and family are helpful too!
Accessories – Veils, tiaras, flowers, crystals and pearls; there are endless hair accessories for your big day. Accessories have played a key part in this year’s spring/summer shows with designers keeping the hair styles simple and adding accessories to add some interest and create a whole new look.
Remember it’s your wedding day, be organised and book your appointments in advance. Don’t be afraid to try something different, most brides try on more than one wedding dress so why not try a variety of hair styles until you find the perfect look for your perfect wedding day.
