London is notoriously the more fun event of the Fashion week circuit; a lot of talent is in London where young designers can let loose and showcase their talents.
London was also the destination of the top secret Tom Ford show that has become the hottest ticket in town.
One big trend coming out after two weeks of shows is Candy Colour, leading the way and setting the tone for a colourful season with Meadham Kirchhoff possibly the most theatrical show of London Fashion Week SS2012
“There was a touch of futuristic romance at Berardi; the hair was fiercely slicked back with a tomboy quiff and effortless movement at the back all thrown into one and it really worked. The hair was off the scale at Vivienne Westwood, no hairstyle was replicated it was also individual and you could say the hair had its own theme going on. So refreshing to see it. You could take your reference as earth wind fire tribal with seasons candy colour being splashed around generously! The texture was raw and tough showing symmetry with the ruffles in the clothes. Tailoring and sculpted twists were the highlight of the collection and this resonated through the hair. And let us not forget the tightly compact heads with material stuck to the heads. Beautiful. There were two distinct styles at Vivienne Westwood” says Nicky Clarke.
“Whilst nearly everybody else, it would seem, had colour on the agenda for next season you can rely on John Rocha to keep it controlled and dark next summer. The clothes were really intricate in detail, incredibly well crafted. The girls were sent down the catwalk looking almost like warriors with their tightly plaited and windswept hair. The drama of the show was told through ornate headpieces that were structured through curling feathers that developed into horns. Elsewhere the hair at Burberry was the obligatory long falling out tousled wavy hair with a centre parting and Matthew Williamson – after playing with updos for a couple of seasons – has gone with how he feels a woman should wear her hair; decadent, healthy and beautiful ‘wavy ,long and down’ he told me” says Nicky Clarke
