If you want to stay ahead of the pack, then you could start experimenting with some of the recent Autumn/WINTER 2012 trends from the various shows.
Try hair wrapping at seen at David Koma – using plenty of Nicky Clarke Hold and Shine Ultimate Hairspray and Nicky Clarke Instant Calmer to give a smooth shiny finish to a super-low ponytail, add a leather wrap around the base of a ponytail to create a super chic finish. They also added a sleek black headband too, but this may look a little heavy for everyday wear. To source the leather for the wrapping, you’ll just need to find your local jewellery making shop, they always stock leather strips for making necklaces but instead use these as your leather wraps.
At the Erdem show we once again saw ribbons being tied – this time skinny black velvet ones, on the base of smooth ponytails tied into a bow – this is very easy to do, and would work well as a daytime workwear look.
Hairbands were also seen on the catwalks for A/W 2012 at Moschino and Spijkers & Spijkers – either embellished, or simple and soft. For embellished headbands, look at the selection at Urban Outfitters or ASOS.
For the softer approach try a vintage shop and instead of investing in an expensive turban style band or wired one, simply look for plain simple silk scarves – long rather than square in shape. You can use them to wrap around and knot underneath your hair at the nape of your neck. Or if you want to add some fun – tie it in a huge bow on the top of your head and recreate Moschino’s 60’s girlishness and finish the bow with a little Nicky Clarke Hold and Shine Ultimate Hairspray to give it staying power.
